Its Party Time

This is a very very special news for me and for my family. My brother, Kiran is through in his campus selections. First, he cleared the Written Test and then cleared the interview held by Satyam Computers. Now, he is concentrating on his BTech Final year exams.

Two Incidents in July 07

I forgot to mention in my blog regarding two important things. Let me write a bit about One of the most memorable and one of the most forgettable incidents that happened in my life within a week's time.
First is my Daughter's first Birthday on 7th July 2007. It was really a great day and all our family members enjoyed the day like anything. We had cake-cutting ceremony at our home in the morning and later in the evening, we went to Greenpark, Visakhapatnam to celebrate her Birthday in a grand style. We invited our relatives and friends in and around Vizag and gave them a party. At the end of the party, me and Jyothi danced too.. :)
Secondly, let me brief about the bad day for us, 13th July 2007. We were back to Bangalore after that wonderful day. I was in office and suddenly, my wife called me saying that Boiled water fall on my baby. I rushed to my house and found my daughter's hand is burnt by the hot water. Then, I rushed to a hospital near by for first aid and later, took her to St John's Hospital where she was hospitalized for 7 days. I came to know from the doctor that one thing which my wife did immediately after the incident, helped my daughter to recover fast, i.e., to put the burnt part in cold water. Around 10-15 days after this incident my daughter came back to normal and started her naughty things.. :)

Joined Kenexa

At last, after a long series of twists, I joined Kenexa on September 18th. Even, I moved my family and belongings from Bangalore to Hyderabad. I had to bend for the family reasons and apart from that, there is no other good reason for me to leave CEGEDIM at this point of time. Anyway, past is past and I look forward for a good properous career at KENEXA.

Kenexa Offer - Part 2

Based on my earlier mail, they said that the offer that they had given me earlier was too high and asking me if I can join for 1 lakh less. First I told them that it is not possible and tried to forget it. But, thinking that Joining in this company would push me nearer to my family, I agreed for the offer. I gave resignation in my current company and I am joining there on 18th September 2007.

Kenexa Offer

Its been a quite long time since I am worrying on this. I cleared n number of rounds of interviews (n=6 here) along with a written test. They offered me some CTC which I agreed to. But, there was no communication from their side till yesterday. I wrote a mail to HR saying that I got two offers and I wanted to hear from them before deciding on these. She replied saying that she had an information that I did not agree for the offer that they gave. All this communication-gap is because of the Consultant, probably. At last her mail which came just now is as follows:

Hi Shivkumar,
The info which I had was that you are not willing for the package offered! May be miscommunication.
I have informed this matter to the higher officials, most probably youwould be receiving a call from Kiran directly or else I will be callingyou further to update you on this.

My Return Journey from Boston to Bangalore

A Long story which is worth narrating, I guess :)
My Tickets are booked in this Route... Boston->New York->Dubai->Bangalore

27th Apr
My flight in Boston is at 7 PM and I reached airport at 5 PM itself. Then, I came to know that 7 PM Flight is cancelled and they put me on 8:30 Flight. They told that it would reach New York at 9:45 and since my flight from New York to Dubai was scheduled at 11 PM, I thought, still I would make it.
But, the 8:30 flight got delayed by 1 hr and I reached New York at 11 PM and the flight to Dubai had already departed. So, they put me on the next day's flight. Yes, it was a 24 hr transit at New York. I called one of my colleagues, who stays 80 miles from Airport and he came all the way to Airport to pick me up and took me to his home. How nice he is!!! I will never forget him and his help in my life time.

28th Apr
It was already morning and hence, after breakfast, we went around New York City for a while and then, I had a nice sleep in his home. His wife was very kind and I had a good Indian food with brinjal curry. Later, I played for 1-2 Hrs with his two daughters. Then, he dropped me at the Bus stop. From there, I went to central bus stand of New York and took sub-way train from there. I got down at Jamaica Station and took Air-Train from there and reached Airport by 8 PM. I got into Flight and had a nice sleep.
29th Apr
This flight came via Hamburg, Germany where it stopped for 2 hrs. At last I came to Dubai at 11 PM. Again it was a 12 hr transit at Dubai. I slept for a while and roamed around Dubai Airport. I did some shopping as well :)

30th Apr
It was much awaiting 11 AM and I got into aircraft to Bangalore. It reached the destination at around 5 PM in the evening. I got out of the aircraft quickly and was in hurry to leave for home. But, still there was some bad luck and I had to wait for 1 1/2 hrs as my suitcase was the last one to come in the belt. Somehow, I could reach home by 7 PM.

Leaving for Bangalore Tomorrow

I am almost at the end of two-week trip.. and tomorrow evening, I am leaving back to Bangalore. I will be reaching bangalore by 29th early morning 3 o' clock.
I Njoyed the stay at Marriott and Njoyed the office, both work and people. Its been a nice experience for me to come over here to Optas and I learnt a lot of things. Above all that, there is a stamping in my passport which confirms that I too came to USA :)

Hurray. Boston City

Yes. At last, I could go around the streets of Boston city... Day before yesterday evening, My colleague named Firtzroy Robortson (a Karebian, I guess) took me around and showed me places in the city.
Really nice place to be in... He drove me for about 3 Hrs... Then, we stopped at a restaurant and had a nice dinner and then he dropped me back at Hotel.
That day (during lunch time), I went with another colleague (Mahesh) and bought Sony Handicam... So, did a bit of shopping as well...
yesterday, I went out for lunch and had Mexican food. hmmmm.. delicious...

Stay at Boston

My work here is going at a good pace. And I guess, I may be back by 27th Apr as per the plan... In the worst case, it may be postponed by one more week, but no way beyond that...

stay is comfortable... Hotel is just too good...
office is next to the Hotel. So, No need to go anywhere else.

Probably, because of this, I am loosing a lot.. Not able to move around the city.

Actually, yesterday, My work is over by 5 PM itself. So, I thought of walking around a bit and see the city. To my surprise, everywhere, I could find only cars.. Nothing else... Not even a single person is walking on the road... All cars are going at a jet pace on the road, thats it... I tried to see something around by walking for almost an hour. Could find nothing and hence came back...

Reached Boston

Hey...
Atlast reached Boston... But, really tired with the hectic travel... Reason being, I missed my flight from Newyork to Boston... I had to wait for the next flight in Newyork for about 4 hrs and then, finally I came...
Boston city looked really wonderful at the first site... Let me see how it is in the near future, probably the next weekend... :)

Hey,
Yesterday, My Visa application for US has been approved and the expected date of journey to Boston is 13th Apr. The return is planned on 27th Apr. Two week trip for Requirements collection.

Its all Official now

Yes, True. Its all official now that, I was selected in our Internal Job posting and I will be moving to the new department (Software Engineering) in another month's time, as Team Lead. Along with that, I may get an On-site oppertunity as well. Lets see how it goes.

Tensed a Bit for...

Desperately wishing to change my job, I applied for Internal Job Posting within my company and I was through in the first round. Second round is expected on Tuesday (as Monday is holiday on the eve of UGADI) and I am really tensed now. Lets what happens.
